The Carleton County Teachers Institute was the association that regrouped the teachers of the county. At its annual sessions, starting with the first one in 1878, the membership discussed the matters concerning their profession and their work.

The minutes, covering the period of 1878 to 1944 inclusive, offer detailed information on the discussions held at the sessions. The minutes also contain annual accounts, while the account book provides additional financial data of the association.
