Founded in 1960 by a small group of dedicated individuals, the Society’s original objective was to acquire the old Carleton County Court House, long used as a stable, and accurately restore the building to its original condition; to research and document local history; to acquire and preserve historical documents and artefacts relating to the County, and by example and education, inspire others to emulate them.
